Let's talk about scheduling your senior portrait session. I get a lot of questions about what time of the year is best. Here are some pros and cons of each season to help make your decision easier!

Spring
Pros
Spring is a quieter time of year, before the hustle and bustle of summer begins. This is also a great time to do your pictures if you are senior, not a junior, and looking to squeeze your portraits in before graduation. Popular locations are less crowded and there is more flexibility for session dates before the busy summer season.
Cons
It can be cold. And muddy, depending on the location you choose. There is not a lot of foliage and flowers haven't bloomed, so keep that in mind if you are looking for a vibrant vibe or flower field.

Summer
Pros
The flowers have bloomed, the creeks are warm and you are tan! The sun sets later allowing for longer sessions and that golden hour light is GORGEOUS! You avoid the stress of fitting your portrait session in during the beginning of the school year and are able to cross them off your list. Your schedule is (usually) more flexible allowing for weeknight sessions if that is something you want.
Cons
It can be hot. It can also be buggy, so if bugs give you the ick, that is something to consider.

Fall
Pros
The fall colors are gorgeous and it's typically not quite as hot. You can maximize your outfits (if your session allows) by layering or wearing summer and fall options.
Cons
Earlier sunsets mean less weeknight options. School being in session and fall sports can make your schedule a little hectic.

Winter
Pros
Winter is sessions are done in January and February. This is a quieter time of year so there is more session availability. Urban sessions can add some color, black and white images really pop, and sunsets can be beautiful this time of year. You might even get lucky and have some snow!
Cons
It's cold. And it can be REALLY cold...and windy. Red faces and runny noses can be a problem. It gets dark early, so sessions can only be done on weekends.

So Which Season is Best?
You're going to hate this answer, but it is totally up to you!! Don't worry I am here to guide you through the process and choose the best time of year for you. Think about what you want to do for your session and narrow it down from there. If you want to be in the creek, you obviously don't want winter. Love summer but you have a busy schedule, book early for the most options! I know it can be hard, but I am always here to help and answer any questions you might have!
